Pre-Law Boot Camp

The Pre-Law Boot Camps are intensive weeklong academic skill-building programs that assist students in developing the critical thinking, research, and writing skills that they will need to perform optimally on the LSAT and in law school.

Boot Camp I: Writing the Personal Statement

Boot Camp I assists students in developing an essential part of their law school application: a compelling personal statement. Using examples from successful writers, students will learn how to vividly demonstrate to their audiences that they possess the qualities that will make them successful law students. By the end of the Boot Camp, students will have produced two drafts of their personal statement and received extensive feedback from faculty instructors and peers. Students will also participate in a mock law class, network with practicing attorneys, and learn about the law school application process.

Boot Camp I is offered every January and June. Any current student or alum may apply to participate in this free program.

Pre-Law Boot Camp I will next take place in January 2024. Applications for Pre-Law Boot Camp I will be available here in November 2023.

Boot Camp II: Introduction to the LSAT

Boot Camp II introduces students to the LSAT, a standardized test all applicants to law school must take. In this Boot Camp, students will take a full-length practice LSAT and will learn techniques to master each section of the LSAT. Students will also learn about habits they can develop to help improve their performance on the LSAT and in law school. Pre-Law Boot Camp II is offered every January.

Boot Camp III: Working with Cases

Boot Camp III exposes students to the fundamental structures of the American legal system, the role of case and statutory law, and techniques for closely analyzing cases. Students who participate in this program will have familiarity with the academic demands of law school before their first actual law school class.
