Judicial Internships
The Pre-Law Institute and the Political Science Department partner with judges in the New York area to provide invaluable internship experiences for some of John Jay College’s brightest undergraduates. While at their placement sites, interns engage in a wide range of activities including courtroom observations and mock trials, as well as drafting memos, decisions, orders, and summaries. Judicial interns will develop practical skills and insights that will contribute to their personal, professional, and academic development. Through the rare opportunity to learn from and be mentored by judges, attorneys and staff, students will not only gain hands-on experience, but will also refine their future goals and expectations regarding the legal profession. Interns work two days a week at their placement sites in either the Fall and Spring semester. They are also required to register for LWS 378, which is taught by Professor Maxwell Mak or Professor Peter Romaniuk.
2022-23 placement sites included:
- The Bronx District Attorney's Office
- The Honorable Wilma Guzman (Alumna), Bronx Supreme Court
