Veronica C. Hendrick teaches Law and Literature as well as American Literature at John Jay College of Criminal Justice of the City University of New York. She publishes in the fields of Comparative Literature, American Studies, and Law and Literature. Her forth-coming book Servants, Slaves, and Savages: Reflections of Law in American Literature (Carolina Academic Press) focuses upon two aspects of this intersection: the influence of fiction on the development of US law and the representation of US laws within American Literature. She is currently working on a manuscript for Routledge’s Historical Americans series, which will contextualize the writing of Toni Morrison in its historical and legal frames.
