Bio

Dr. Noam Haviv is a respected criminologist and assistant professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, specializing in the intersection of correctional solutions and advanced statistical methodologies. With a comprehensive background in criminology, sociology, and history, Dr. Haviv has built a distinguished career characterized by extensive research and innovative approaches to reducing recidivism and enhancing rehabilitation programs.

Dr. Haviv's academic journey began with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology & Anthropology and General History from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His pursuit of knowledge continued with a Master's degree in Criminology, where he explored the social dynamics of the Israeli BDSM community under the supervision of Dr. Irit Negbi. His doctoral research, supervised by Prof. David Weisburd and Prof. Badi Hasisi, delved into the efficacy of prison treatment programs in mitigating recidivism, focusing on the mediating effects of risk-related factors and program types.

In addition to his robust educational foundation, Dr. Haviv has garnered substantial experience through various academic and professional appointments. As a post-doctoral researcher and visiting scholar at Arizona State University, he contributed to pivotal projects at the Center for Correctional Solutions and the Office of Sex Trafficking Intervention Research. His role as Research Director and Data Analyst at the latter further underscores his proficiency in handling complex data sets and employing advanced statistical software such as STATA, SPSS, and EXCEL.

Dr. Haviv's teaching career spans several institutions, including Ashkelon Academic College, where he served as a senior lecturer. His courses have covered a wide range of topics, from corrections systems and juvenile delinquency to the impact of epidemics on criminology.

Throughout his career, Dr. Haviv has been recognized for his contributions to criminology. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Outstanding Researcher Grant from Ashkelon Academic College, the Israeli President Scholarship for outstanding Ph.D. students, the Erasmus+ Scholarship for Ph.D. students, and the Israeli Society of Criminology Award for an outstanding article by a young researcher. His research has been published in prestigious journals, reflecting his commitment to advancing the field.

Beyond academia, Dr. Haviv's expertise extends to practical applications.
