Nina Rose Fischer, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor at John Jay College. She also taught at Hunter and Hunter School of Social Work. She has 20 years youth justice experience as a clinician, administrator, researcher and policy analyst. She is currently the Principal Investigator on two research projects 1) substance use harm reduction for high school students; and 2) youth and police relations. Her additional expertise are about community stability with young women to prevent incarceration and the wraparound approach.  Critical race, class and gender analyses are central to her work. She co-wrote a chapter about the cross-systems work with youth in multiples systems, and solo authored a chapter about innovative interventions with youth in the juvenile justice system. She is working on articles based on her current research, and a book about youth police relations contracted for publication with Routledge in fall 2019.
