Freshmen
Eligible applicants must
- Receive admission for the Fall 2024 term as a first-time first year student at John Jay College (Fall 2024 admission).
- Enroll at John Jay College as a full-time student during the duration of their program of study.
- Be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Submit the FASFA (Free Application for Student Financial Aid) and TAP (Tuition Assistance Program) applications in order to receive financial aid.
- Be a resident of New York City.
- Eligible students may not be part of any special group, including ASAP/ACE/SEEK/College Discovery/Early Start.
Program structure & benefits
All APPLE Corps participants receive the following support to accelerate college completion and prepare for a career:
Financial support - money you can count on
- Students receive up to $15,000 stipend across 4 years.
Structured academic program - classes with your peers
- Students will take cohorted courses with APPLE Corps faculty for 6 semesters to satisfy general education or major requirements.
Dedicated academic support - always ask whom to ask for help
- Apple Corps staff will provide academic advisement throughout the entire program.
- Peer success coaches will welcome and assist new students with the transition and connect them to academic and professional support services provided.
Service and professional preparation - your resume will be ready to submit
- Students will participate in service and internships on the front lines of public service, crime prevention and public safety.
- Students will receive firsthand exposure, develop practical skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, and dispute resolution.
- Students will receive assistance with job search, interview skills and application.
